Sometimes alumni just call in to say hello, even if they’ve travelled 4,000 miles!

We are always happy when we get a message from alumni saying that they’re going to be around in Sheffield and asking if it’s OK for them to call in to say hello. And the answer is always YES! Atif Sindi did just that, and on the tenth anniversary of his MBA graduation day too.

Now working in the Saudi Arabian Banking Industry, Atif enjoyed a trip down memory lane as he spent a day in Sheffield ahead of a ten-year reunion with his classmates in London, as part of his trip to the UK. He met up with colleagues in the Development Alumni, Relations and Events (DARE) Office, and was given a tour of the Management School by Ian Proctor, Executive Programme Manager at the School.

“As an international student, the University of Sheffield welcomes everyone with fair opportunities of learning and development. Expanding the students’ horizons and enriching their knowledge in my experience by a well-designed MBA programme.”

Seeing the very different Management hub of today than the building on Mappin Street where Atif would have known the School to be ten years ago, he said: “How touching and refreshing it is to revisit the Management School after ten years of being an alumnus from, 20th December 2006.”

Atif told us that right after graduating from the MBA, his employer saw the value added, and he gained a promotion from Senior Officer to Assistant Vice President. Today, he is Vice President and Head of Vendor Relationship & Contracts Management Division for a company in the Saudi Arabian Banking Industry.

“I really shall thank the University of Sheffield for developing my future rather than being my past.”

Atif was even kind enough to share his photos capturing his trip to Sheffield. The top left is Atif testing out the lecturn in the Middleton lecture theatre and top right shows the same lecture theatre behind him. Bottom left is Atif with Ian Proctor, Executive Programme Manager, and bottom right is Atif meeting Sara Qutub, International Alumni Development Manager in DARE. Thank you for a lovely visit Atif! It was great to see you.

If you find yourself in Sheffield and have a spare hour, we are more than happy to catch-up with you and give you a tour of the School, especially if you haven’t seen our home up in Crookesmoor! Get in touch at mgtalumni@shef.ac.uk
